Bold Action

Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, “what are you doing for others?”

– Martin Luther King Jr.

I taught a yoga class last Sunday that was a beautiful reminder {mostly to myself} to get clear on your purpose. As routine and the mundane settle in, it can be easy to get complacent. To lose sight on your big and powerful dreams. To lose track of your purpose, or to get caught up focusing in all the wrong places.

It’s been a tough month in many different ways. Lots of things have taken me by surprise, and there has been an all too constant reminder that life is fleeting. One of my favorite lessons in IIN was a talk from Ariana Huffington about building your life for your Eulogy rather than your resume. While that may seem like a dark title, her question does help to bring what truly matters to the forefront.

What this means is, we must be willing to take bold actions inspired by the heart. While there is darkness and anger in so many places, there is also so much light. When we are able to be a beacon of light, and spread light and kindness to the world, we can help to shine light on that darkness.

So this weekend, let’s all plan one action to spread light onto others. Maybe this means starting a conversation with the person that serves you coffee every morning, or it means volunteering at an animal shelter you pass by every day. If each of us is able to make spreading light and kindness our top priority, we can do a whole lot of good.

Fill yourself up, and then spread your light and love like confetti.

When I need something to help me fill up, I love to meditate to this song by India.Arie:

What’s your favorite random act of kindness? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

With so much love,
