Happy Friday! And first day of May!!!!
While I’m off on trail, I wanted to share some of my favorite things that go far beyond one week. These are things I use/love/go to on a daily basis. They are sources of inspiration, wellness, health, vitality, and mindfulness. It’s these small things which help to brighten even the darkest of days.
A Few of My Favorite Things:
1). My favorite song, ever is “Going to California” by Led Zeppelin. I claimed this song in high school as my theme song, and it still holds true to this day. I used to play it in almost every yoga class I taught. There’s just something so grounding and beautiful about it.
2). My favorite yoga mat. One of my students told me that Manduka yoga mats were like the cadillac of yoga. I finally got myself one for my birthday last year, when I had gone through a few cheap yoga mats that tore and started to fall apart. This one continues to hold up well, and is such a wonderful space to practice on. I also love the color.
3). My favorite quote, ever:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
-From Marianne Williamson in A Return to Love (AMAZING BOOK!)
4). My favorite yoga pose: Pigeon.
This is the pose that I used to hate and dread the most. Then, it was one of the most life-changing in my Yoga Teacher Training. I’ve shed many tears on my mat while in pigeon pose, and it is my go-to when I need to release, and really feel what is going on. So powerful.
5). My favorite cookbook: The Oh She Glows Cookbook.
I can’t rave about this book enough. The recipes are simple, healthy, delicious. If you buy one cookbook–buy this one! You will not regret it!
There’s so much more to add, but this is just a quick start! I hope you have a wonderful Friday and an amazing weekend, whatever you end up doing!
