If you’re anything like me, you love dessert! Specifically, my favorite things are chocolate and Ice Cream.
A few years back I kept seeing “banana soft serve” popping up all over the place.
The idea is, if you freeze bananas and then blend them, it turns into a creamy ice-cream consistency. The cool thing is, bananas are sweet, and thus you don’t even need to add sugar!
You can play around to make your banana soft serve fit into your favorite ice cream flavors. I’ve added almond/peanut butter, chocolate chips/cacao nibs, raw cacao/cocoa powder, whatever your heart desires.
Below is a variation I made to help fuel an ice cream craving, while also adding protein.
I have been trying to up my protein content these days, which is different for everyone. My goal is to see how I feel upping my protein intake throughout the day (especially breakfast and lunch). Most people eat plenty of protein, so feel free to omit the protein powder.
The protein powder I’m using is Chocolate Hemp Immortal Machine, by David Wolfe. I was recommended this brand because hemp protein is the easiest from of protein for you body to digest. Other proteins, such as brown rice protein, can denature during processing, breaking down the protein and making it less efficient for your body.
Chocolate Protein Ice Cream
2 frozen bananas
enough coconut milk, almond milk, or favorite milk to keep things spinning (I started with about 1/4 cup and added about 1 tablespoon at a time)
2 Tablespoons Chocolate Hemp Protein (Immoral Machine), or a scoop of your favorite protein
1 teaspoon raw cacao powder (or cocoa powder)
Add all ingredients to blender, putting milk in last. Start with a smaller amount of milk to keep the consistency thinker. Add about a tablespoon of milk at a time if you need. Blend until smooth, it may take a little longer if you don’t have a high-speed blender. Feel free to play around and add different ingredients. Things I love to add to basic banana soft serve (just frozen bananas and milk of choice): cinnamon, peanut butter/almond butter, peanuts, chocolate chips, anything you might top ice cream with.
